5 Fantasy Series Worth Your Time

2022 was a year full of fantasy reading for me! Before this past year, I didn’t considered myself a fantasy reader, even though horror was my main genre. I know horror is technically a sub-genre of fantasy, but I didn’t immerse myself fully into high fantasy series until recently. And now I’m obsessed.

If you also read fantasy, you likely know that for every amazing series you find, there are two more that just don’t hit the spot. I’m not a fan of disappointment, and I bet we have that in common, so let me tell you all about some amazing fantasy series I found in 2022!

Here are 5 (sort of 6—I explain below) fantasy series that are worth your time!

Mid-Year Book Reviews! 2022

At the time of writing this, I have read 64 books this year, and I have attempted to narrow that list down to the 10 must-reads from the year so far. Most are fiction, many are fantasy and/or horror, but there are a couple outliers! I will link each book to its Goodreads page if you want a proper summary. I’m writing my reviews/summaries based more on vibes and tropes. I have been reading a lot of fantasy as of late and find the book jacket blurbs to be terribly confusing, sometimes boring, and often misrepresentative of the book’s overall vibe. Like, if I’m bored and confused reading ABOUT the book, why would I want to spend my time reading the actual book? So if you’re looking for what the feel of the book is and are not too concerned about the specific plot points, you’re in the right place.

3 Books That Don’t Live up To The Hype

This post has the potential to ruffle some feathers. But , you know, it’s just, like, my opinion…man.

I like what I like. None of these books are bad. I would say they are all solid 3s (out of 5), whereas their average ratings on Goodreads make them seem like the best books you’ll ever read. They all have tens of thousands of ratings and are all rated above 4…in some cases over 4.5! People were feeling awfully lenient IMHO.

If you have similar tastes to me, maybe this post can save you some time.

What I Do outside of Yoga And How These Activities Have Shaped Me As A Teacher

Y’all already know I love yoga, but you might not know that I don’t depend solely on yoga for my fitness or use it as my main form of exercise. I actually found yoga as a cross-training activity (before I really knew what yoga was) for running. So even my reason for initially practicing yoga is rooted in these activities. My reason for practicing yoga now has evolved into something much more—but that’s for a different post.

Why am I writing this?

Because these other activities have played a major role in shaping who I am as a yoga student and teacher. My needs, my priorities, and my education have been shaped by these hobbies. When you know what is important to me and what I like, you understand why I teach the way I do and you know the specific benefits you will reap by practicing with me.

I finished the ACOTAR series and now I don’t know what to do with myself.

Ok, so this is not really a review post, and I’m not summarizing the story, but this IS a post about how I’m mourning the fact that I have no more of these books to read. I’m not even sure I can accurately and objectively say how good these books are or the writing is because I’m in love with the story. But I don’t care, I love it. I have loved series that were straight up bad (that’s for a different post) and I have no shame about my tastes.

There are spoilers here, so go finish the series and then come back and commiserate with me.

Best Horror Books I Read in 2021

If you know me, you know I LOVE the horror genre. I read a lot of amazing horror stories in 2021 and wanted to highlight some of my favorites. I have been a horror fan forever, and just recently decided to write reviews so that I can connect with other readers and aid in their selection process. I’m busy (like everyone else) and really try to not spend my time on sub-par stories, so I tend to select books that I already know I’m going to love (so my reviews definitely skew positive). I hope these reviews bring some delightful fright and spice to your reading list!
